According to Stats SA representative Naledi Mabitsela-Ngcobo, Gauteng currently carries the highest share of youth-headed households in the country, with young people running roughly one in four homes in the economic hub. She noted that when combining households led by those aged 15 to 24 with those aged 25 to 34, the total figure climbs well above 25%.

By contrast, the Eastern Cape province recorded the lowest proportion of youth-headed households in SA, with its share remaining below 19%.

The data provides fresh insight into rapidly evolving family structures as severe economic pressures, shifting migration patterns, and broader demographic changes continue to reshape household dynamics across SA.

–ChannelAfrica–

[326,234
post-35477","lifestyle-ent","type-lifestyle-ent","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","featured-post-household","featured-post-south-africa","entry
["GET
