According to Mahlangu, the partnership marks over a decade of creative relationship between the luxury designer and the commercial brand, with Magugu explaining that the collection was intentionally designed to reflect the broad, nuanced sophistication of SA identity without restricting its aesthetic to a single cultural group.

Magugu noted that his relationship with Woolies spans 10 to 11 years, stating that both he and the brand put considerable effort into Heritage Day outputs, making it an ideal time to merge worlds. He highlighted the importance of creating a version of heritage that encapsulates everyone, offering familiarity while remaining abstract enough for anyone to see themselves in it, while paying homage to his own fashion-conscious family where timeless garments were passed down through generations.

Meanwhile, thousands of music lovers are expected to gather at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday for SA’s premier Amapiano celebration, Scorpion Kings Live. Headlined by legendary producer-DJ duo Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa, the festival features a star-studded local line-up including Ami Faku, Samthing Soweto, Nokwazi, Nkosazana Daughter, and Mlindo The Vocalist.

Project Lead for the festival Katlego Malatji urged attendees to arrive with an open mind for what he described as a musical experience par excellence. Malatji highlighted that everything from technical production, screens, dancers, theatrics, and surprise pop-up performances will contribute to what he anticipates will be the greatest concert in African history, noting it is currently the largest concert on the continent not headlined by an international act.

In addition, the popular Jozi Kota Festival will return to the Nasrec Expo Centre south of Johannesburg on October 3, 2026, showcasing SA’s iconic township street food, the Kota, while empowering young food entrepreneurs and small businesses.

According to Mahlangu’s report, Chief Operating Officer of the festival Luvo Limba recalled that the event started with a vision and an attendance of about 800 people at Johannesburg Station in 2020. Limba explained that despite initial financial losses exceeding R200 000 ($10 958), the positive public response inspired them to continue, eventually breaking even with nearly 4 000 attendees later that year.

Limba added that the festival now actively promotes low-barrier entrepreneurship across Southern Africa, holding workshops months in advance to teach youth how to start Kota businesses using everyday kitchen utensils and digital delivery platforms.

–ChannelAfrica–

[196,169,414,412,413
post-45861","lifestyle-ent","type-lifestyle-ent","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","featured-post-art","featured-post-fashion","featured-post-kota","featured-post-scorpion-kings","featured-post-thebe-magugu","entry
["GET
