Authorities have described the polls as a significant step in consolidating democratic institutions in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Opposition groups under the Republican Bloc for the Defence of the Constitution have voiced concern over the decision, rejecting recent constitutional reforms and pressing for a political dialogue before the elections take place.<\/p>\n<p>Ludovic Ledo, national and international co-ordinator of the G-16, said in an interview; \u201cThese elections cannot be credible without first addressing the deep political divisions in our country.
