The Anamola party, led by Mozambican opposition politician Ven\u00e2ncio Mondlane, has criticised its exclusion from the technical committee overseeing Mozambique\u2019s ongoing political dialogue.<\/p>\n

It described the move as \u201cundemocratic\u201d and \u201ccounterproductive\u201d to national reconciliation efforts.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Monday, the party announced plans to launch a parallel consultation process aimed at ensuring \u201cinclusive representation\u201d in discussions that seek to resolve tensions stemming from the disputed 2024 general elections.<\/p>\n

Anamola argues that it represents a significant portion of the population that \u201ccontinues to fight against electoral injustices and governance imbalances\u201d. The party\u2019s exclusion, it said, undermines efforts to restore public trust in state institutions.<\/p>\n

Speaking in an ingterview, Dr Wilker Dias, Executive Director of the DECIDE Platform, said the decision to exclude Anamola could deepen existing political divides and threaten the fragile peace process.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cExcluding a party that represents a considerable segment of society from dialogue initiatives risks reigniting old grievances,\u201d Dias warned. \u201cFor Mozambique to move forward, all key stakeholders, including emerging political actors like Anamola, must be given a seat at the table.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Dias added that Mozambique\u2019s government and opposition must \u201cprioritise genuine engagement and transparency\u201d to prevent a relapse into instability.<\/p>\n

The country has faced growing political tension and sporadic unrest since the 2024 polls, which opposition parties alleged were marred by irregularities. The current dialogue process, supported by civil society and international partners, aims to promote peacebuilding and national reconciliation, goals that now risk being undermined by the controversy over Anamola\u2019s exclusion.<\/p>\n
