As of July 28, more than 86% of Gaza’s farmland has been damaged amid ongoing Israeli military operations, while an additional 12.4%, though intact, remains out of reach due to active conflict.

This alarming data comes as the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate. The latest figures from the local Ministry of Health indicate that malnutrition-related deaths have climbed to nearly 200, with half of the victims being children. In just the past 24 hours, five more starvation deaths were recorded.

The UN’s Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs says hospitals across Gaza are overwhelmed and unable to cope, with many patients treated on the floor or in the streets. Supplies are critically low, and medical staff are in short supply. Over 100 health professionals, including surgeons, have been denied entry into Gaza since March, according to the World Health Organisation.

Meanwhile, fuel shortages continue to cripple essential services. Despite the collection of 300 000 litres of fuel over the past two days from the Kerem Shalom crossing, the amount is far below the necessary levels to sustain humanitarian operations. Health partners warn that over 100 premature babies are now at imminent risk due to lack of fuel for incubators and other vital equipment.

Further compounding the crisis, the Israeli military on Wednesday renewed displacement orders across five neighbourhoods in Gaza and Khan Younis governorates. Shelter materials have not been permitted into Gaza since early March, and what remains locally is prohibitively expensive.

The UN has reiterated calls for unhindered humanitarian access, a resumption of ceasefire negotiations, and urgent international intervention to prevent further loss of life.

–UN/ChannelAfrica–

[26
post-12600","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","news-type-general_news","entry
A new report by the United Nations (UN) has revealed the staggering scale of destruction to Gaza’s agricultural land, underscoring the deepening humanitarian catastrophe as famine-like conditions take hold.||A new report by the United Nations (UN) has revealed the staggering scale of destruction to Gaza’s agricultural land, underscoring the deepening humanitarian catastrophe as famine-like conditions take hold.
["GET
