South Africa’s (SA) Stormers centre Wandisile Simelane says while the team’s strong start to the United Rugby Championship is encouraging, maintaining focus remains the key to sustaining their momentum.<\/p>\n
The Cape side followed up a dominant 35-0 win over Leinster with a 26-10 victory against Ospreys, making it back-to-back triumphs to start their campaign.<\/p>\n
Now in Wales, the Stormers are preparing for their first tour clash against the Scarlets in Llanelli on Friday night.<\/p>\n
Simelane says the overseas leg offers the team a chance to build on their early form.<\/p>\n
“Very good you know we are not going underestimate or downplay the fact that “We’re not going to downplay the fact that starting well was important for us. But having said that, now that we’re going on tour, it’s almost like a new start. It’s important for us to reset and put the two wins behind us and try to accumulate as many points as possible on this tour.”<\/p>\n
With injuries to key players such as Warrick Gelant, Simelane has stepped up impressively in the fullback role since joining from the Bulls last season.<\/p>\n
Originally signed as a centre, he’s shown versatility and composure in the number 15 jersey across the opening rounds.<\/p>\n
Simelane credits his teammates and coaches for helping him adapt smoothly to his new position.<\/p>\n
