{"id":13137,"date":"2025-10-21T09:00:41","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T07:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/coca-cola-hbc-buys-control-of-africa-bottling-business-for-2-6-billion\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:26:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:26:13","slug":"coca-cola-hbc-buys-control-of-africa-bottling-business-for-2-6-billion","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/coca-cola-hbc-buys-control-of-africa-bottling-business-for-2-6-billion\/","title":{"rendered":"Coca-Cola HBC buys control of Africa bottling business for $2.6 billion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Swiss-based bottler Coca-Cola HBC has agreed to buy a 75% stake in its African counterpart for a total of $2.6 billion, the firm said this Tuesday, creating the world&#8217;s second-largest Coca-Cola bottling partner by volume.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Coca-Cola HBC will acquire United States based Coca-Cola&#8217;s around 42% stake in Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) and the Gutsche Family Investments&#8217; entire stake in a deal it said in a statement values the African bottler at $3.4 billion.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The transaction puts the combined group second behind Coca-Cola FEMSA in terms of Coca-Cola bottling volumes and expands Coca-Cola HBC&#8217;s footprint in Africa to tap into growing demand led by younger consumers in 14 new markets.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>COCA-COLA HBC HAS OPTION TO BUY REMAINING 25%<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Coca-Cola HBC, which is already listed in London and Athens, also intends to pursue a secondary listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and said it would cancel its share buyback programme with immediate effect.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Coca-Cola HBC is a strong and valued bottler that will help usher in the next chapter of growth for CCBA,&#8221; said Coca-Cola Chief Operating Officer Henrique Braun.
