{"id":13511,"date":"2025-10-22T17:18:50","date_gmt":"2025-10-22T15:18:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/google-unveils-quantum-echoes-algorithm-poised-to-transform-ai-material-science\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:26:26","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:26:26","slug":"google-unveils-quantum-echoes-algorithm-poised-to-transform-ai-material-science","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/google-unveils-quantum-echoes-algorithm-poised-to-transform-ai-material-science\/","title":{"rendered":"Google unveils quantum echoes Algorithm, poised to transform AI, material science"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The new algorithm called Quantum Echoes, which runs on the company&#8217;s quantum chip, is <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">13 000<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> times faster than the most sophisticated classical computing algorithm on supercomputers, Google said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In the future, the Quantum Echoes algorithm may be able to help measure molecular structure in molecules <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">which<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> could aid in drug discovery and help material science through identifying new types of materials, company executives told a media briefing last week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Alphabet&#8217;s Google is among several major tech firms <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">including<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Amazon and Microsoft <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">investing<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> in quantum computing, which promises to speed up computing and solve problems out of reach for today&#8217;s machines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Last year, Google unveiled its quantum chip, Willow, that the company said <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">is able to<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> overcome a crucial problem with &#8220;qubits&#8221;, the building blocks of quantum computing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The development of the algorithm was roughly equivalent in significance to the chip, the executives said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The algorithm is also verifiable with other quantum computers or through experiments.
