{"id":14845,"date":"2025-11-08T16:23:40","date_gmt":"2025-11-08T14:23:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/saim-ayub-steers-pakistan-to-odi-series-win-over-sa\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:27:16","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:27:16","slug":"saim-ayub-steers-pakistan-to-odi-series-win-over-sa","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/saim-ayub-steers-pakistan-to-odi-series-win-over-sa\/","title":{"rendered":"Saim Ayub steers Pakistan to ODI series win over SA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saim Ayub scored 77 from 70 balls as Pakistan eased to a seven-wicket victory over South Africa (SA) in the third and final One-Day International in Faisalabad on Saturday to clinch the series 2-1.<\/p>\n<p>SA won the toss and elected to bat but a collapse from a commanding position saw them post a below-par 143 all out in 37.5 overs.<\/p>\n<p>That was never likely to challenge the home side and they reached their target with three wickets down and a huge 149 deliveries remaining.<\/p>\n<p>SA made a good start to their innings with a 72-run opening stand between left-handers Quinton de Kock (53) and Lhuan-dre Pretorius (39), but lost their next nine wickets for the addition of only 71 runs.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan\u2019s spinners squeezed the scoring rate and got the ball to grip off the surface, with Abrar Ahmed picking up career-best figures of 4-27.
