The European Union (EU) has committed to investing millions of Euros into South Africa (SA) for energy and transport infrastructure development.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Addressing the media in Sandton, north of Johannesburg, the EU delegation has also raised concerns on the effects of climate change, especially on developing economies.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen says the EU has cut the emissions by 50% in the last 20 years. The EU delegation is in the country for the G20 leaders\u2019 Summit and held bilateral meetings with President Cyril Ramaphosa.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Agreements on trade, investment and critical minerals have been signed between EU and Pretoria.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
However, Ramaphosa says minerals will be extracted and processed here in the country.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Der Leyen says two trillion Euros have been invested on clean energy, renewables and low carbon energy but only two came to Africa.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The EU has also indicated that the issue of the war in Ukraine and other conflicts around the world must be part of the G20 leaders\u2019 discussions.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Der Leyen says the EU is fully behind SA\u2019s theme on Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The leaders\u2019 summit will kick-off on Saturday with several issues affecting the globe to be high on the agenda.<\/p>\n
