{"id":15978,"date":"2025-11-24T08:11:06","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T06:11:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/disorganisation-cost-nigeria-a-world-cup-spot\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:28:02","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:28:02","slug":"disorganisation-cost-nigeria-a-world-cup-spot","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/disorganisation-cost-nigeria-a-world-cup-spot\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Disorganisation cost Nigeria a World Cup spot\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has joined the growing criticism of Nigeria\u2019s failure to reach the 2026 FIFA World Cup, arguing that the team\u2019s problems lie more in organisation than in talent.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In comments shared by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Oliseh said Nigeria\u2019s build-up play was too slow and predictable, allowing opponents to close down space before the team could move the ball forward.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He noted that although the squad boasts top players, the team struggled to translate individual quality into a coherent performance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe time it takes to win the ball, get it under control and play it forward is simply too long,\u201d he said. \u201cBy the time the ball moves, the space has already disappeared.
