{"id":20835,"date":"2025-12-10T13:35:59","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T11:35:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/ghanas-economy-grew-5-5-in-third-quarter-of-2025\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:32:04","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:32:04","slug":"ghanas-economy-grew-5-5-in-third-quarter-of-2025","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/ghanas-economy-grew-5-5-in-third-quarter-of-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana&#8217;s economy grew 5.5% in third quarter of 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana&#8217;s economy expanded by 5.5% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025, driven by an improvement in the agriculture and services sectors, the statistics agency said this Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>However, growth slowed from a revised 7.0% in the same period last year, dragged down mostly by the industrial sector that expanded by only 0.8%, Government Statistician Alhassan Iddrisu told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fishing and crop production lifted the growth in the agricultural sector to 8.6%, Iddrisu said, adding that the services sector, encompassing finance, insurance, trade, and education grew by 7.6%.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Agriculture&#8217;s contribution to growth was outsized, showing a sector that is recovering quickly and adding real weight to the national output,&#8221; Iddrisu said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Non-oil real gross domestic product grew by 6.8% compared to 7.8% a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The country, which produces gold, oil and cocoa, is emerging from its most severe economic crisis in decades.
