The proposed salary increases, if approved, could see the President earning R137 000 more a year, bringing his salary to R3.4 million annually.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy President could get an annual increase of just under R130 000 a year, bringing his salary to R3.1 million a year.<\/p>\n<p>Cabinet Ministers could see a salary hike of R110 000, bringing their annual salary to R2.8 million.<\/p>\n<p>ActionSA, which has brought a Private Members\u2019 Bill to do away with Deputy Ministers, says the proposed salary hikes are outrageous.<\/p>\n<p>ActionSA Member of Parliament Alan Beesley says, \u201cIn an environment where public office bearers are delivering very little that they are meant to serve and with 50% of families in our country going to bed hungry over this festive period, this increase is unacceptable, inappropriate and certainly not deserved. What is a huge slap in the face for South Africans is now Deputy Ministers will now earn over R2.3 million per annum.
