{"id":22057,"date":"2026-01-06T15:14:36","date_gmt":"2026-01-06T13:14:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/somalia-condemns-israeli-foreign-minister-visit-to-hargeisa-as-violation-of-sovereignty\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:33:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:33:08","slug":"somalia-condemns-israeli-foreign-minister-visit-to-hargeisa-as-violation-of-sovereignty","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/somalia-condemns-israeli-foreign-minister-visit-to-hargeisa-as-violation-of-sovereignty\/","title":{"rendered":"Somalia condemns Israeli Foreign Minister visit to Hargeisa as violation of sovereignty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry said that any official engagement without Somalia&#8217;s consent was illegal and void and called on international bodies, including the United Nations and the African Union, to support its territorial integrity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Israel is the only country that has formally recognised Somaliland&#8217;s move to break away from Somalia, which described Israel&#8217;s decision on recognition as an &#8220;unlawful step&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on X, Saar said that he had held talks &#8220;on the full range of relations&#8221; with Somaliland&#8217;s President, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, in the capital Hargeisa.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are determined to vigorously advance relations between Israel and Somaliland,&#8221; Saar wrote on X, alongside images of him meeting the Somaliland leader at the Presidential palace.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Somaliland&#8217;s Information Ministry earlier said on X that Saar was leading a high-level delegation.
