{"id":22369,"date":"2026-01-13T14:17:05","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T12:17:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/sas-eskom-ready-to-meet-rising-electricity-demand-in-2026\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:33:22","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:33:22","slug":"sas-eskom-ready-to-meet-rising-electricity-demand-in-2026","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/sas-eskom-ready-to-meet-rising-electricity-demand-in-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"SA\u2019s Eskom ready to meet rising electricity demand in 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Africa\u2019s (SA) power utility Eskom says it is well-prepared to meet growing electricity demand as economic activity picks up in the weeks ahead.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Eric Shunmagum, Eskom\u2019s Group Executive for Generation, highlighted that the utility enters 2026 with an extra 4 400 megawatts of capacity and an Electricity Availability Factor (EAF) of around 70%, a notable improvement from the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast year at this time, our EAF was 56%.
