{"id":22815,"date":"2026-01-23T15:26:01","date_gmt":"2026-01-23T13:26:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/sa-highlights-economic-reforms-investor-progress-at-davos-2026\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:33:43","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:33:43","slug":"sa-highlights-economic-reforms-investor-progress-at-davos-2026","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/sa-highlights-economic-reforms-investor-progress-at-davos-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"SA highlights economic reforms, investor progress at Davos 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Africa\u2019s (SA) team at the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, showcased the country\u2019s recent economic reforms and progress in attracting investment, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Leading a delegation of government Ministers, industry leaders and state agencies, Godongwana met with global investors and potential business partners to highlight steps taken to stabilise the economy, create jobs and unlock growth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we came here in 2025, we presented our plans for economic reform, building investor confidence and mobilising private investment. This year, we returned with evidence of real progress, not just promises,\u201d Godongwana told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The delegation highlighted SA\u2019s removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) greylist, the upgrade of its sovereign credit rating by S&amp;P Global, and key reforms under Operation Vulindlela that have improved electricity supply, port and rail operations, and infrastructure investment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Godongwana also underscored the government\u2019s commitment to stabilising debt in the current fiscal year and noted that the recent lowering of the inflation target would provide greater price and policy certainty, helping both local and international investors.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At a WEF press briefing, the delegation reflected on SA\u2019s 2025 G20 Presidency, which culminated in a landmark G20 Leaders\u2019 Declaration.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur G20 Presidency offered a platform for economic cooperation to rise above narrow national interests and geopolitical tensions,\u201d Godongwana said. \u201cSA will continue to play a credible role in discussions on debt relief, climate and infrastructure finance, global tax rules, and reform of multilateral institutions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Ministerial delegation included International Relations and Co-operation Minister Ronald Lamola, Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Parks Tau, Small Business Development Minister Stella Tembisa Ndabeni, Electricity and Energy Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, and Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;ChannelAfrica&#8211;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":22816,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"news-type":[78,44],"class_list":["post-22815","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","news-type-featured","news-type-finance","entry"],"acf":{"short_description":"SA team at the 2026 WEF in Davos, Switzerland, showcased the country\u2019s recent economic reforms and progress","published_date":"2026-01-23 17:24:13","news_description":"SA team at the 2026 WEF in Davos, Switzerland, showcased the country\u2019s recent economic reforms and progress","form_embed":"","author":"","image_caption":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/22815","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/22815\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":25990,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/22815\/revisions\/25990"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/22816"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=22815"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"news-type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news-type?post=22815"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
