{"id":22962,"date":"2026-01-27T14:47:04","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T12:47:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/23832\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:33:51","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:33:51","slug":"23832","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/23832\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspected Boko Haram members kill 7 Nigerian soldier: sources"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Suspected Boko Haram members killed seven Nigerian soldiers and captured 13 others, including their commanding officer on Monday in northeastern Borno State, two security sources said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, at least nine Nigerian soldiers were killed and several others injured when their convoy struck a landmine and came under fire also in Borno state.<\/p>\n<p>The attack took place near Bindundul village, about 20 kilometres from Kareto, an area where West Africa Province fighters operate freely and often set up checkpoints, according to a military source from the Damasak brigade.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe terrorists planted a mine that our soldiers stepped on.
