The ECF and EFF were originally approved in January 2023, while the RSF was approved in December 2023.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The completion of the latest reviews enables the immediate disbursement of $91 million. This includes $9 million under the ECF\/EFF arrangements, and $82 million under the RSF. With this release, total disbursements to Mauritania under all three facilities reach $258 million.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After strong gross domestic product growth of 6.3% in 2024, Mauritania\u2019s economic activity is estimated to have slowed to 4.2% in 2025, largely due to a contraction in the extractive sector. Non\u2011extractive activities, however, continued to show solid performance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Despite global uncertainty and rising regional security risks, the IMF notes that Mauritania\u2019s medium\u2011term outlook remains favourable, supported by public infrastructure projects and growing private investment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ongoing reforms in governance, monetary and financial policy, investment regulation, and vocational training are expected to help diversify the economy beyond traditional extractive industries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Following the Board\u2019s discussion, IMF Deputy Managing Director Kenji Okamura, who chaired the meeting, commended Mauritania\u2019s policy efforts. \u201cDespite an expected slowdown in growth in 2025, Mauritania\u2019s economy continued to show resilience, supported by prudent and well\u2011calibrated policies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He highlighted the authorities\u2019 ongoing fiscal discipline, including the adoption of a fiscal anchor designed to protect public spending from commodity price volatility and help stabilise public debt.
