{"id":23176,"date":"2026-02-02T08:52:25","date_gmt":"2026-02-02T06:52:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/justin-rose-secures-record-breaking-victory-at-farmers-insurance-open\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:34:01","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:34:01","slug":"justin-rose-secures-record-breaking-victory-at-farmers-insurance-open","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/justin-rose-secures-record-breaking-victory-at-farmers-insurance-open\/","title":{"rendered":"Justin Rose secures record breaking victory\u00a0at Farmers Insurance Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">England&#8217;s Justin Rose obliterated the rest of the field at Torrey Pines on Sunday, and for good measure, also took on a Tiger Woods record, and beat that, too.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">In perhaps his most complete tee to green performance of his career, the 45-year-old carded a two under 70 for a seven-shot victory in the Farmers Insurance Open.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">He finished on 265, 23 under for his four rounds, breaking the 72-hole tournament record set by Woods in 1999.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">It all added to an astonishing performance by the Johannesburg-born golfer, playing some of the best golf of his career and still looking for improvement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Rose, who also won at Torrey Pines in 2019, now has 13 career Professional Golfers&#8217; Association Tour titles and occupies third place on the world rankings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">He opened with a 62 on the North Course and really never let up all week, playing even better on the South Course, which has hosted two United States\u00a0 Opens.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">He extended his lead after each round to win by the largest margin of his career.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">For the record, a group of three players finished in a tie for second, including 23-year-old Ryo Hisatsune of Japan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">&#8211;SABC&#8211;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":23177,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"news-type":[44],"class_list":["post-23176","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","news-type-finance","entry"],"acf":{"short_description":"","published_date":null,"news_description":"England's Justin Rose golf game","form_embed":"","author":"","image_caption":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/23176","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/23176\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":26229,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/23176\/revisions\/26229"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/23177"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=23176"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"news-type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news-type?post=23176"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
