{"id":23333,"date":"2026-02-05T10:13:44","date_gmt":"2026-02-05T08:13:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/agoa-extension-will-help-to-restore-business-confidence-saccusa\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:34:09","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:34:09","slug":"agoa-extension-will-help-to-restore-business-confidence-saccusa","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/agoa-extension-will-help-to-restore-business-confidence-saccusa\/","title":{"rendered":"AGOA extension will help to restore business confidence: Saccusa"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">The South African Chamber of Commerce in the United States of America (Saccusa) says the one-year extension of the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) will help to restore business confidence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Parks Tau has confirmed that SA remains a beneficiary of AGOA, which provides duty-free access to the US market for its automotive, agricultural, and manufactured goods.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">There was anxiety among exporters following AGOA\u2019s expiration in September last year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">It has now been extended to December 31 this year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The Chamber\u2019s Chairperson, Neil Diamond, however, says they have some concerns.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Diamond says, \u201cAs business, we are concerned about the relationship and the ongoing tensions. We still do not have an ambassador in the US, and as business, we will be sending a delegation next month to meet with (International Relations and Cooperation Minister) Ronald Lamola to raise our concerns with the minister.
