{"id":23397,"date":"2026-02-06T11:44:16","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T09:44:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/hpcsa-warns-against-unregistered-environmental-health-practitioners\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:34:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:34:12","slug":"hpcsa-warns-against-unregistered-environmental-health-practitioners","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/hpcsa-warns-against-unregistered-environmental-health-practitioners\/","title":{"rendered":"HPCSA warns against unregistered environmental health practitioners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) has issued a strong warning about the rise of individuals claiming to be qualified Environmental Health Practitioners without proper registration.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Professional Board for Environmental Health Practitioners, part of the HPCSA, said practising any health profession without registration is illegal under the Health Professions Act No. 56 of 1974. Section 34 of the Act makes registration with the relevant professional board a legal requirement, and anyone who ignores this faces prosecution and possible penalties.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOperating without registration is not only against the law but also puts the public\u2019s health and safety at serious risk,\u201d the HPCSA said.
