{"id":23447,"date":"2026-02-08T06:08:52","date_gmt":"2026-02-08T04:08:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/ghana-curbs-offshore-investments-to-protect-cedi-boost-stability\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:34:15","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:34:15","slug":"ghana-curbs-offshore-investments-to-protect-cedi-boost-stability","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/ghana-curbs-offshore-investments-to-protect-cedi-boost-stability\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana curbs offshore investments to protect Cedi, boost stability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ghana&#8217;s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has directed local fund managers to cut back on offshore investments as it seeks to protect the Cedi currency and strengthen macroeconomic stability.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ghana, a major gold and cocoa producer, is emerging from its most severe economic crisis in decades, and it is expected to complete a three-year International Monetary Fund support programme in August.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The SEC said in a circular late on Friday that, with immediate effect, local fund managers will not be allowed to invest more than 20% of their funds under management in foreign securities.
