Private investigator Paul O’Sullivan has strongly denied allegations that he infiltrated South Africa\u2019s (SA) Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), describing the claims as false and unfounded.<\/p>\n

Testifying for a second day before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee, O’Sullivan told members that the accusations distort his interactions with the police watchdog and misrepresent his role in a high profile corruption matter.<\/p>\n

O’Sullivan testified that in February 2016 he opened a criminal case against former National Police Commissioner Khomotso Phahlane, but said IPID refused to investigate the docket he had submitted.<\/p>\n

He maintained that his subsequent engagements with IPID officials were legitimate and related directly to the case, including a visit to a residential estate linked to the investigation.<\/p>\n

He insisted that these interactions do not amount to infiltration, reiterating that claims to the contrary are untrue.<\/p>\n

O’Sullivan is continuing his testimony before the committee, which is examining allegations of misconduct and interference within IPID.<\/p>\n
