{"id":23840,"date":"2026-02-16T16:01:28","date_gmt":"2026-02-16T14:01:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/analysts-expect-positive-shift-in-sa-unemployment-figures\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:34:35","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:34:35","slug":"analysts-expect-positive-shift-in-sa-unemployment-figures","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/analysts-expect-positive-shift-in-sa-unemployment-figures\/","title":{"rendered":"Analysts expect positive shift in SA unemployment figures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Africa\u2019s (SA) fragile labour market is set to come under the spotlight when the latest unemployment figures are released this Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Statistics SA is due to publish the results of its Quarterly Labour Force Survey for the final quarter of last year.<\/p>\n<p>Economists are expecting that shifts in the official unemployment rate over the last three months of 2025 may build on the modest positive momentum seen in the third quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Benguela Global Fund Managers&#8217; Senior Portfolio Manager, Grant Nader says they are looking to see ongoing stability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019d like to see this stemming of the losses in the manufacturing sector as the rand strengthens, it makes it more it makes it cheaper to import. So we don\u2019t want to see that sector coming under too much pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen we\u2019d like to see that momentum in the hospitality and retail, you know, on the back of good tourism, add some further jobs.
