{"id":24068,"date":"2026-02-22T08:54:21","date_gmt":"2026-02-22T06:54:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/most-affected-areas-to-get-foot-and-mouth-vaccines-first-minister\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:34:49","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:34:49","slug":"most-affected-areas-to-get-foot-and-mouth-vaccines-first-minister","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/most-affected-areas-to-get-foot-and-mouth-vaccines-first-minister\/","title":{"rendered":"Most affected areas to get  foot and mouth vaccines first: Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>South Africa&#8217;s (SA) Minister of Agriculture John Steenhuisen says that the distribution of the one million\u00a0foot and mouth\u00a0disease vaccine doses that have arrived, will focus on the provinces that have been the most affected.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The first consignment went to the Onderstepoort Biological Products where they will be dispatched to provinces.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Steenhuisen welcomed the arrival of the vaccines from Argentina but warned that the vaccines by themselves are not a silver bullet and said emphasis should be on good biosecurity on the farms.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cKwaZulu Natal, the Free State, and the North West province and to some degree Mpumalanga province. So, they will get the bulk of this but every province will be receiving something out of this first batch here, to enable us to begin to break the back of the virus going forward. How it will be distributed, the Ministerial Task Team, has developed a heat map for the country where every municipal boundary has been broken up into a primary, secondary or tertiary classification.
