{"id":24145,"date":"2026-02-24T05:43:34","date_gmt":"2026-02-24T03:43:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/sadc-health-ministers-meet-in-sa-to-strengthen-sexual-reproductive-health-strategy\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:34:52","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:34:52","slug":"sadc-health-ministers-meet-in-sa-to-strengthen-sexual-reproductive-health-strategy","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/sadc-health-ministers-meet-in-sa-to-strengthen-sexual-reproductive-health-strategy\/","title":{"rendered":"SADC Health Ministers meet in SA to strengthen sexual, reproductive health strategy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Programme Manager for &#8220;2gether 4 SRHR&#8221; at the United Nations (UN) Population Fund, Richard Delate, has emphasised the importance of sexual and reproductive health and rights.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;2gether 4 SRHR&#8221; is a joint UN Regional Programme that brings together the combined efforts of Joint UN Programme on HIV\/AIDS, UN Population Fund, UN Children&#8217;s Fund\u00a0and the World Health Organisation to improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of all people in Eastern and Southern Africa (SA).<\/p>\n<p>SA is hosting a high-level meeting of Health Ministers from across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in Sandton, Johannesburg, as the region confronts persistent health challenges. Delate further explained the significance of creating a strategy to address these issues.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The aim of the sexual and reproductive health strategy is really aiming to improve the sexual and reproductive health of all people in the SADC region. So it&#8217;s looking at issues of paternal mortality, it&#8217;s looking at issues of unintended pregnancies, access to family planning, HIV, gender-based violence, sexual health in general. So it&#8217;s looking at all of that. The strategy has four key pillars.
