{"id":24165,"date":"2026-02-24T10:07:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-24T08:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jhb-webdevelopers\/channelafrica\/news\/sadc-region-needs-six-month-hiv-lenacapavir-drug-more-than-any-other\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T16:34:53","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T14:34:53","slug":"sadc-region-needs-six-month-hiv-lenacapavir-drug-more-than-any-other","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/sadc-region-needs-six-month-hiv-lenacapavir-drug-more-than-any-other\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;SADC region needs six month HIV Lenacapavir drug more than any other&#8217;\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">South Africa&#8217;s (SA) Minister of Health Dr Aaron Motsoaledi says that the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region needs the six month HIV injectable, pre-exposure Lenacapavir drug more than any other region.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The region has the highest levels of HIV prevalence globally.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Motsoaledi was addressing the media on the sidelines of the two-day joint meeting of the SADC Health Ministers currently underway in Johannesburg Gauteng Province.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Motsoaledi commended the countries like Zimbabwe which has rolled out the injectable.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&#8220;Many African countries are looking forward to launching Lenacapavir, I have read in the papers that Zimbabwe has already started, and many of us are going to follow.
