{"id":27443,"date":"2026-03-02T10:12:57","date_gmt":"2026-03-02T08:12:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=27443"},"modified":"2026-03-02T10:12:57","modified_gmt":"2026-03-02T08:12:57","slug":"irans-embassy-works-with-dirco-to-assist-stranded-sa-citizens","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/irans-embassy-works-with-dirco-to-assist-stranded-sa-citizens\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran\u2019s embassy works with DIRCO to assist stranded SA citizens"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">The Iranian embassy in South Africa (SA) has committed to working together with the Department of International Relations and Co-operation (DIRCO) to assist South Africans in Iran.<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"ms-outlook-mobile-signature\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div>This follows strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran, and the killing of the country\u2019s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali-Khamenei, over the weekend.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div>Iran, meanwhile, has vowed retaliation, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div>Iran\u2019s Ambassador to SA, Seyed Mostafa Daryabari, says Tehran will continue with the legacy of Ali-Khamenei of fighting for the country.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div>He says, \u201cIn the midst of this turmoil, we are deeply concerned about South African citizens who have found themselves in an unfortunate situation between these forces.
