Government of Chad has announced the resignation of the Minister of State for Higher Education, Scientific Research and Vocational Training, Tom Erdimi.<\/p>\n

Erdimi, a former rebel leader and long-time opponent of the late president Idriss D\u00e9by Itno, was appointed to the position in October 2022 following the Doha Peace Agreement signed between the transitional government and several politico-military groups.<\/p>\n

While official reasons for his resignation have not been fully detailed, some sources suggest the move may be linked to the cancellation of a project that had been championed by the former Minister. However, political observers believe there could be deeper political considerations behind his departure.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the development, Abdelkerim Koundougouni, leader of the political movement Le Pacte des B\u00e2tisseurs, said the resignation raises questions about the internal dynamics of the transitional government.<\/p>\n

Koundougouni noted that Erdimi\u2019s appointment had symbolised a step toward reconciliation after the Doha talks, bringing former opposition figures into government.<\/p>\n

\u201cErdimi\u2019s entry into government after the Doha agreements was seen as part of efforts to promote national dialogue and reconciliation. His departure therefore raises concerns about whether those commitments are being fully maintained,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that the situation highlights the need for greater transparency from the authorities regarding decisions affecting key government figures.<\/p>\n
