{"id":28336,"date":"2026-03-11T07:45:47","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T05:45:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=28336"},"modified":"2026-03-11T07:45:47","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T05:45:47","slug":"sa-records-over-260-000-new-voter-registrations","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/sa-records-over-260-000-new-voter-registrations\/","title":{"rendered":"SA records over 260 000 new voter registrations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Electoral Commission (IEC) of South Africa (SA) says a total of 260,205 new voter registrations were recorded between November 2025 and March 2026.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The commission says the registrations were captured through its voter management services and online voter registration portal.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The IEC has also announced that voter registration weekend will take place on June 20 and 21 ahead of the 2026 local government elections.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Chief Electoral Officer Sy Mamabolo was speaking at a media briefing in Centurion, Gauteng province.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Mamabolo says, \u201cBetween November 2025 and March 2026, a total of 260 000 new registrations were recorded.
