The experimental drug, SNV4818, belongs to a class of selective PI3K\u03b1 \u200binhibitors, a new approach for the treatment of a type \u200bof breast cancer known as HR positive\/HER2 negative and potentially other solid tumours.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The acquisition adds to a growing pipeline of targeted cancer \u200btherapies, including a radioligand therapy candidate, that Novartis is \u200balready testing. SNV4818 is currently in early\u2011stage trials and has shown promising \u200cactivity \u2060against tumors in lab studies, Novartis said. Synnovation&#8217;s drug targets only the mutated form of PI3K\u03b1, an enzyme that often malfunctions in breast and other forms of cancer, while sparing \u200bthe normal \u200bversion found in \u2060healthy cells.
