Ghana have parted ways with coach Otto Addo, with 72 days remaining until \u200bthe kickoff of the 2026 World Cup, \u200cthe country’s football association (GFA) announced this Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The decision came a few hours following a 2-1 defeat by Germany in Stuttgart during \u200btheir preparation for the tournament which will \u200bbe held in North America next summer. Ghana \u2060also lost 5-1 in Austria on Friday.<\/p>\n
“The Ghana \u200bFootball Association (GFA) have parted ways with the Head Coach \u200bof the senior men\u2019s national team (Black Stars), Otto Addo effective immediately,” it said in a statement.<\/p>\n
Former Borussia Dortmund player Otto Addo, appointed \u200bfor a second stint in March 2024, failed \u200bto qualify Ghana for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations \u200cdespite \u2060having Premier League players Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Kudus in his squad.
\nThe German-born coach won eight matches and lost nine in 22 games in charge of \u200bthe West African \u200bnation.
\nOtto Addo, \u206050, led Ghana at the 2022 World Cup, after previously working as an \u200bassistant to Milovan Rajevac.<\/p>\n
They recorded a 3\u20132 \u200bwin \u2060over South Korea in Qatar but exited at the group stage after defeats by Portugal and Uruguay.<\/p>\n
Ghana, who \u2060reached \u200bthe World Cup for the \u200bfifth time, are in Group L along with Croatia, England and Panama.<\/p>\n
