{"id":30673,"date":"2026-04-03T08:07:49","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T06:07:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=30673"},"modified":"2026-04-03T08:07:49","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T06:07:49","slug":"sa-minister-holds-gulf-talks-as-country-urges-middle-east-diplomacy","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/sa-minister-holds-gulf-talks-as-country-urges-middle-east-diplomacy\/","title":{"rendered":"SA Minister holds Gulf talks as country urges Middle East diplomacy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Africa\u2019s (SA) International Relations Minister Ronald Lamola has held consultations with several counterparts in the Gulf region amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a message posted on X, Lamola said he also spoke with Iran\u2019s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who raised concerns over the rising civilian death toll and the worsening humanitarian situation in the region.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lamola reiterated that SA maintains that diplomacy remains the only viable path towards resolving the conflict.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, China\u2019s Ambassador to SA Wu Peng outlined a joint five-point initiative by China and Pakistan aimed at restoring peace and stability in the Gulf and broader Middle East.
