{"id":31568,"date":"2026-04-11T17:36:04","date_gmt":"2026-04-11T15:36:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=31568"},"modified":"2026-04-11T17:36:04","modified_gmt":"2026-04-11T15:36:04","slug":"us-forces-are-clearing-strait-of-hormuz-president","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/us-forces-are-clearing-strait-of-hormuz-president\/","title":{"rendered":"US forces are \u2018clearing\u2019 Strait of Hormuz: President \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>United States (US) President Donald Trump this Saturday posted on social media that the US military has started to clear the Strait of Hormuz, and that all of Iran\u2019s minelaying ships have been sunk.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re now starting the process of clearing out the Strait of Hormuz,\u201d Trump wrote in a social media post, adding that \u201call 28\u201d of Iran\u2019s \u201cmine dropper boats are also lying at the bottom of the sea\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Trump has repeatedly said that American forces have destroyed Iran\u2019s navy and air force while crippling its ballistic missile and nuclear programs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But fear of Iranian attacks on shipping over the past several weeks has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, a critical conduit for global oil supplies.
