{"id":31608,"date":"2026-04-12T14:13:00","date_gmt":"2026-04-12T12:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=31608"},"modified":"2026-04-12T14:13:35","modified_gmt":"2026-04-12T12:13:35","slug":"sa-intercepts-over-4-700-travellers-during-easter-border-operations","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/sa-intercepts-over-4-700-travellers-during-easter-border-operations\/","title":{"rendered":"SA intercepts over 4 700 travellers during Easter border operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Border Management Authority (BMA) in South Africa (SA) says it intercepted 4 763 travellers attempting to enter or leave the country illegally during a ten-day Easter operation at ports of entry.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The authority says 3 170 of those intercepted were in the country without proper documentation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>BMA Commissioner Michael Masiapato says some of the individuals were also found with fraudulent visas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He was speaking to the media in Pretoria on the outcomes of the Easter border operations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOut of these, 4 763 were people without documents.
