South Africa\u2019s (SA) Regional Court in KuGompo City in the Eastern Cape Province has granted opposition leader the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Julius Malema leave to appeal his sentence.<\/div>\n

Malema was\u00a0earlier today sentenced to five years direct imprisonment for unlawful possession of a firearm and two years for possession of ammunition.<\/div>\n

The sentences were to run concurrently. Magistrate Twanet Olivier delivered the judgment.<\/div>\n

The charges ranges from unlawful possession of a firearm, five years\u2019 imprisonment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Unlawful possession of ammunition two years\u2019 imprisonment.<\/div>\n

Discharging a firearm in a built-up area and public space, fined $1 220 (R20 000) or six months imprisonment<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Reckless endangerment of people or property fined $1 220 (R20 000) or six months imprisonment.<\/div>\n

Failure to take reasonable precautions to avoid danger to person or property, Malema and his former security guide Adriaan Snyman fined $1\u00a0220 (R20\u00a0000) or six months imprisonment.<\/div>\n
