{"id":32271,"date":"2026-04-17T11:25:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T09:25:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=32271"},"modified":"2026-04-17T11:25:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T09:25:19","slug":"un-wfp-launches-real-time-global-hunger-tracking-platform","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/un-wfp-launches-real-time-global-hunger-tracking-platform\/","title":{"rendered":"UN WFP launches real-time global hunger tracking platform"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The United Nations (UN) World Food Programme (WFP) has\u00a0launched a modernised intelligence platform designed to track global hunger in real time and help trigger faster humanitarian responses.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The new\u00a0HungerMap\u00a0Live,\u00a0uses data analysis and predictive tools to show where food insecurity is worsening and where famine risks may emerge.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>WFP\u00a0says hunger is no longer only a crisis to respond to after the fact, but one that can increasingly be predicted before it escalates.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Its newly upgraded\u00a0HungerMap\u00a0Live platform brings together food security data from around the world, offering decision makers, journalists and the public a clearer picture of the global hunger situation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Director of Food Security and Nutrition Analysis at WFP Jean Martin Bauer: &#8220;Hunger is a problem that can be predicted and where responses can be anticipated. That&#8217;s why information systems and data platforms like the HungerMap Live are important. WFP&#8217;s food security analysis capacity is about 300 specialists all over the world.
