Zambia&#8217;s mining investment arm ZCCM-IH owns 20% of the mine, \u200bwhich, before production could resume, had to go through \u200ba dewatering process after severe flooding damaged infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2060Mines Ministry said that as of March 27 approximately 87.9 \u200bmillion cubic metres of water had been pumped out of the \u200bmine, clearing the way for infrastructure development and construction.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Luanshya Mine is scheduled to resume production at its upper mine in August 2026,&#8221; the Ministry \u200bsaid in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Production at the lower mine is \u200bexpected to commence in 2029 under the ongoing redevelopment of the 28 Shaft \u200cbeing \u2060undertaken by China Luanshya Mine (CLM).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 28 Shaft&#8217;s redevelopment represents an investment of around $710 million, covering new shaft systems, a concentrator plant, and related infrastructure, the Ministry added.<\/p>\n<p>The Luanshya mine is expected to produce approximately 100 000 metric tons of copper annually by 2030 once fully operational, boosting output for \u2060Africa&#8217;s \u200bsecond-largest copper producer as it seeks \u200bto more than triple production to 3 million tons by 2031.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Reuters&#8211;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":23934,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"news-type":[44],"class_list":["post-32845","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","news-type-finance","entry"],"acf":{"short_description":"The Luanshya mine is expected to produce approximately 100 000 metric tons of copper annually by 2030.","published_date":"","news_description":"The Luanshya mine is expected to produce approximately 100 000 metric tons of copper annually by 2030.","form_embed":"","author":"","image_caption":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/32845","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/32845\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":32846,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/32845\/revisions\/32846"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/23934"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=32845"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"news-type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news-type?post=32845"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
