Campaigners \u2060for migrant rights say foreigners have been scapegoated in \u200bSA for its economic woes. Ablakwa expressed concern \u200bover an incident in SA’s KwaZulu-Natal province where a Ghanaian national was confronted, asked to provide proof of his \u200blegal status and told to leave and “fix his \u200bcountry”, his Ministry said on X.<\/p>\n

SA’s Police Ministry said \u200cin \u2060a statement that all those found participating in or inciting xenophobic acts would be identified, apprehended and brought before the courts. “Acts of lawlessness, intimidation and \u200bviolence against \u200bmigrant communities \u2060have no place in our constitutional democracy,” SA’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ronald \u200bLamola, told a meeting of government officials.<\/p>\n

Violence \u200bagainst \u2060migrants was a threat to SA’s constitutional order, Lamola added. The police asked community leaders and \u2060civil \u200bsociety groups to help prevent \u200bfurther attacks and promote dialogue.<\/p>\n
