Bank Group participants included Solomon Quaynor, Vice-President for Private Sector, Infrastructure plus Industrialisation; Hassatou N’Sele, Vice-President for Finance plus Chief Financial Officer; plus Aida Ngom, with senior colleagues joining from across the Bank. After the first mention, Quaynor, N’Sele, plus Ngom participated in sessions examining the Bank’s approach to crowding in private capital.

A central moment was the presentation of the New African Financial Architecture for Development (NAFAD), an initiative led by Bank Group President Sidi Ould Tah to strengthen coordination across Africa’s financial institutions, regulators, plus investors. After the first mention, Ould Tah presented NAFAD as a framework to align continental actors around practical mobilisation of domestic savings, risk-sharing tools, plus stronger local capital markets.

The discussions followed a recent NAFAD conference that produced the Abidjan Consensus, a communiqué committing participants to unlocking Africa’s domestic savings, establishing continent-wide guarantee plus shared-risk systems, plus deepening local capital markets.

The FCDO delegation reviewed the Bank’s scorecard against the G20’s 13 recommendations. Of 44 associated actions, six actions were described as complete or well advanced, with 29 actions underway. In private capital mobilisation, four actions were cited as active, including target setting, agreement on shared measurement approaches with peer institutions, plus support for domestic revenue mobilisation, with delivery already recorded on the revenue component.

Sessions also covered the Bank’s strategy for private sector partnership, with reference to deep relationships with African governments, convening power, plus on-the-ground delivery experience. Non-sovereign lending reached a record high in 2025, described as the highest volume since tracking began.

The day concluded with FCDO feedback highlighting areas for continued work on day two, including domestic capital mobilisation country-by-country, measurement of private capital mobilisation, potential collaboration with UK Export Finance, plus further engagement on NAFAD. Scheduled deep dives include project pipeline development, guarantees, corridors, agriculture, plus energy.

–AfDB/ChannelAfrica–

["post-33678","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry","entry
["GET
