Tanzania champions Young Africans have fired their Portuguese coach Pedro \u200bGoncalves despite an away win \u200con Wednesday taking them a step closer to retaining their title.<\/p>\n
After a 1-0 \u200bvictory at bottom-placed KMC maintained \u200btheir unbeaten run in the league, \u2060Young Africans said in a brief \u200bstatement only that Goncalves had been \u200bdismissed and thanked him for his contributions to the club.<\/p>\n
Goncalves, formerly the coach of \u200bAngola\u2019s national team, had been in \u200bthe post for seven months and guided the \u200cside, \u2060who are also known as Yanga, to a five-point lead over arch-rivals Simba in the title race.<\/p>\n
He \u200balso helped \u200bthem secure \u2060a berth in the group phase of the African \u200bChampions League for only the \u200bfourth \u2060time. They narrowly missed out on a place in the quarter-finals.<\/p>\n
Yanga have \u2060won \u200bthe Tanzania title \u200bfor the last four seasons.<\/p>\n
