UAE authorities attributed the strikes to Iran, while Tehran denied involvement on Tuesday.

Bahrain’s Ambassador Jamal Fares Alrowaiei said recent developments underscore the need to keep the strategic waterway safe plus fully open, describing the situation as a matter requiring “collective action”. Alrowaiei said the draft builds on Security Council resolution 2817 (2026), adopted in March, which condemned “egregious attacks” by Iran against seven neighbouring countries.

According to Alrowaiei, the draft resolution calls on Iran to immediately cease attacks plus threats against merchant plus commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The text also addresses the placement of mines plus illegal tolling in the maritime channel, plus calls for participation in UN efforts to establish a humanitarian corridor in the strait.

United States (US) Ambassador Mike Waltz said freedom of navigation is a cornerstone of global stability plus commerce, warning that threats to open transit risk wider damage to global trade.
