{"id":35130,"date":"2026-05-22T11:04:52","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T09:04:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=35130"},"modified":"2026-05-22T11:04:52","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T09:04:52","slug":"sas-kruger-national-park-hosts-regional-diplomacy-meeting","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/sas-kruger-national-park-hosts-regional-diplomacy-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"SA&#8217;s Kruger National Park\u00a0hosts regional diplomacy meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">South Africa&#8217;s (SA) Department of International Relations and Co-operation is set to host a special meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Southern African Development Community\u00a0(SADC)\u00a0at Skukuza, Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga Province.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The three-day meeting follows a resolution taken at the recent SADC Council of Ministers Meeting, held in Pretoria in March where it was agreed that SADC Foreign Ministers would go on a &#8220;retreat&#8221; to reflect on the prevailing geo-political environment in the world and the impact thereof on the region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">This meeting comes at a critical time for the region and the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">SADC leaders are increasingly concerned about the changing global geo-political environment, including ongoing conflicts in different parts of the world, shifting economic alliances, trade uncertainties, and their impact on African economies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The retreat was therefore called to allow Foreign Ministers to reflect strategically on how these global developments affect Southern Africa politically, economically, and socially.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">It also provides an opportunity for member states to strengthen policy coordination and reinforce regional unity on key international matters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">&#8211;Channel Africa&#8211;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":34432,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"news-type":[78,26],"class_list":["post-35130","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","news-type-featured","news-type-general_news","entry"],"acf":{"short_description":"","published_date":"","news_description":"Special meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs","form_embed":"","author":"","image_caption":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/35130","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/35130\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":35131,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/35130\/revisions\/35131"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/34432"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=35130"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"news-type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news-type?post=35130"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
