The governors also backed institutional reforms aimed at making the Bank more agile, more flexible, and closer to beneficiaries across Africa.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Chairperson of the Bank Group\u2019s Boards of Governors, Minister of Economy, Planning, Statistics and Forecasting, Ludovic Ngats\u00e9, said the Board of Governors had approved Ould Tah\u2019s vision to strengthen Africa\u2019s capacity for action and influence in an increasingly fragmented world.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ould Tah told the closing session that the message from the governors had been heard clearly. Ould Tah said the Brazzaville meetings had set in motion a dynamic of action, transformation and integration.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>More than 4 000 participants from over 81 countries attended the meetings under the theme of mobilising large-scale resources for financing Africa\u2019s development in a fragmented world. The gatherings marked the first Annual Meetings held under Ould Tah\u2019s Presidency after the start of the term on September 1, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The programme included a presidential panel featuring President Denis Sassou-N\u2019Guesso of the Republic of the Congo, President Faustin-Archange Touad\u00e9ra of the Central African Republic, President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema of Gabon, and Ould Tah.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The meetings also produced several major announcements. Angola announced a contribution to the 17th replenishment of the African Development Fund (ADF), bringing the number of African countries financing ADF-17 to 25, with total commitments exceeding $190 million.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Commitments of more than $3 billion were also announced for the Congo Basin Blue Fund to support 17 African countries in environmental conservation and sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Japan announced $10 million for the Integrated Aviation Transformation Programme in Africa. Additional agreements were signed as part of the operationalisation of the Four Cardinal Points vision, as well as during a high-level meeting on the aviation programme and the African Facility for Medicines and Medical Equipment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During Africa Day celebrations on May 25, Sassou-N\u2019Guesso announced visa-free access to the Republic of the Congo for nationals of all African countries from January 1, 2027.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Anatole Collinet Makosso said the meetings had gone ahead in person despite the Ebola outbreak in neighbouring Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
