Ivory Coast forward Elye Wahi will not travel to Canada for this weekend\u2019s World Cup clash with Germany, \u200bthe Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) said on Thursday, a \u200cday after the player was linked to an investigation into suspected sports corruption in a Ligue 1 match.<\/p>\n
The FIF said they had \u200bfull confidence in Wahi and he was \u200bnot travelling for Saturday\u2019s match in Toronto because \u2060authorisations for his travel to Canada had not been \u200bobtained.<\/p>\n
French authorities said unusual betting patterns were detected around a \u200byellow card Wahi received in a Ligue 1 match while playing for Nice last month.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo date, the FIF has not \u200bbeen officially notified of any legal or administrative proceedings \u200bconcerning him,\u201d the FIF said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring this particularly difficult \u200cperiod, \u2060the FIF offers its full support to the player and reaffirms its confidence in him. Elye Wahi remains an important member of the Ivory Coast national \u200bteam.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe player will \u200bnot be \u2060able to join the delegation\u2019s trip to Canada. This is because the administrative \u200bauthorisations required for him to enter Canadian \u200bterritory \u2060have not yet been obtained. Elye Wahi will therefore remain in the United States until the team returns.\u201d<\/p>\n
