UN Spokesperson St\u00e9phane Dujarric said the organisation is aware of reports indicating that both sides have agreed to halt hostilities, but stressed that conditions on the ground remain unstable. \u201cWe welcome the development and call on all parties to cease hostilities, respect existing arrangements and pursue dialogue,\u201d Dujarric said.<\/p>\n

The reported ceasefire comes shortly after a broader provisional agreement between the United States and Iran, which includes commitments to end hostilities across multiple fronts, including Lebanon.<\/p>\n
However, Dujarric cautioned that the situation remains fluid, with continued military activity testing the durability of any agreement.<\/p>\n

The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said it remains in constant contact with both parties, but reported ongoing violations.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
UNIFIL data showed that on Thursday alone, there were 52 Israeli airspace violations and 217 projectile trajectories, with the majority attributed to Israeli forces.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The situation worsened on Friday, with 748 projectile trajectories recorded, including the majority linked to Israeli military activity, alongside continued airstrikes and ground operations.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
These developments highlight the gap between diplomatic announcements and realities on the ground.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Dujarric warned that civilians continue to bear the brunt of the conflict. \u201cFor many displaced families, ceasefire announcements have yet to translate into improved safety,\u201d Dujarric said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The UN said humanitarian conditions remain fragile, with displacement ongoing despite limited aid deliveries.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
UNIFIL has increased support in affected areas, providing food and essential assistance to displaced families in Beirut and surrounding regions.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In Saida, humanitarian officials reported that some families who had initially fled were beginning to return, although the situation remains uncertain.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, UN independent human rights experts welcomed the broader US\u2013Iran memorandum but warned that it fails to adequately address human rights conditions within Iran.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The experts said the agreement, which includes provisions on nuclear negotiations, sanctions relief and reconstruction funding, largely overlooks the impact of the conflict on Iranian civilians. \u201cThey remain barely visible in this framework,\u201d the experts said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The experts also raised concerns about ongoing repression in Iran, including reports of widespread detentions, torture and executions since the start of the conflict.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
They called for accountability and human rights protections to be central to any lasting agreement.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The UN reiterated that sustained peace will depend not only on ceasefire commitments, but also on adherence to international law and protection of civilians.<\/p>\n
