Following a review of the incident, FIFA&#8217;s disciplinary body officially ruled the tackle as serious foul play. The resulting five-game ban remains subject to appeal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kon\u00e9, who was born in the Ivory Coast and currently plays his club football for Italian side Sassuolo, underwent surgery in Vancouver to repair the injuries. The midfielder will miss the remainder of the World Cup tournament due to the recovery period.
