{"id":38485,"date":"2026-07-01T08:08:13","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T06:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=38485"},"modified":"2026-07-01T08:08:13","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T06:08:13","slug":"sa-president-unveils-gnu-cabinet-changes","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/sa-president-unveils-gnu-cabinet-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"SA President unveils GNU cabinet changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">South Africa&#8217;s (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced changes to National Executive following consultations with the Democratic Alliance as a partner in the Government of National Unity (GNU).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The Cabinet reshuffle affects the portfolios of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Trade, Industry and Competition, Electricity and Energy, Higher Education, and Water and Sanitation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">As part of the changes, Ramaphosa has appointed Willem Aucamp as Minister of Agriculture and David Maynier as Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Ramaphosa has also appointed John Steenhuisen as Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Alexandra Abrahams as Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy, Jack Bloom as Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, and Yusuf Cassim as Deputy Minister of Higher Education.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">In addition, Ramaphosa has filled the vacant position of Minister of Social Development by appointing Dina Pule to the portfolio.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The appointments were made in terms of Sections 91 and 93 of the Constitution.
