{"id":38806,"date":"2026-07-05T08:08:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-05T06:08:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=38806"},"modified":"2026-07-05T09:08:38","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T07:08:38","slug":"sa-department-smashes-targets-in-first-month-of-hiv-jab-rollout","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/sa-department-smashes-targets-in-first-month-of-hiv-jab-rollout\/","title":{"rendered":"SA department smashes targets in first month of HIV jab rollout \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Africa&#8217;s (SA) Gauteng Health Department has hit a massive milestone after completely overtaking its first-month targets for the rollout of the new HIV prevention injection, Lenacapavir.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The rollout is aimed at giving extra protection to individuals who are at a substantial risk of contracting HIV, a move that pushes SA much closer to its goal of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Department Spokesperson Steve Mabona confirmed that the team has already received their next batch of stock, ensuring the rollout won&#8217;t face any supply disruptions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The numbers are not lying, we surpassed our target, which we were targeting about 4000, we&#8217;re at about 6000,&#8221; Mabona said. &#8220;And we have already received the second consignment of our stock, which we&#8217;re not going to be depleted.
