{"id":40082,"date":"2026-07-20T16:09:16","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T14:09:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=40082"},"modified":"2026-07-20T16:09:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T14:09:16","slug":"sa-president-commits-to-resolving-the-countrys-water-crisis","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/sa-president-commits-to-resolving-the-countrys-water-crisis\/","title":{"rendered":"SA President commits to resolving the country\u2019s water crisis"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\"><span style=\"font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">South Africa\u2019s (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa says his administration is determined to resolve the water crisis in the country in honour of late former President Nelson Mandela.<\/span><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">In his weekly Monday letter, Ramaphosa says government is responding to the need to expand access to safe and reliable water to underserved communities across SA.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<p>Government launched the National Water Access Acceleration Programme through the decentralised water supply schemes.<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">This programme is part of the identified schemes that were highlighted in the state of the nation address by the president to address the water crisis that is causing immense hardship for households, communities and businesses across the country.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Ramaphosa, over the weekend, as part of the programme, handed over boreholes to the Hammanskraal community, and the Klipdrift Package Water Treatment Plant was officially commissioned.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Similar interventions were rolled out in other parts of Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal provinces , which was officiated by Deputy President Paul Mashatile in the Eastern Cape province.
